Biography

Robert Rizzo is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and recently completed a Master of Music at the Australian Institute of Music. His research topic was The development of a pedagogical tool for the performance of big band lead trumpet repertoire, and as a result, is now authoring a book.

Robert is a freelance musician in Melbourne, Australia. He is a trumpet specialist and has extensive experience in performing and teaching professionally. He is experienced at performing in a range of musical contexts as a cross-over artist.

Robert achieved an A.M.E.B. Grade 6 Trumpet certificate in his second year of playing at the age of 13, and Grade 8 Trumpet in his fourth year of playing. On completion of the V.C.E. in year 12 as school Music Captain of Mazenod College, he was accepted into all major Victorian tertiary music courses and entered the Victorian College of the Arts. Upon graduating he won a casual position in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and was also granted mentorship with Australian Premiere Jazz Musician James Morrison through the Victorian College of the Arts. Robert has studied with world class Australian and International Trumpet players.
